On July 1st 1976, in a brazenly ironic gesture, quite common amongst fine art students of the time, Tony Baker took it upon himself to call himself an artist, and has been producing work ever since, embracing everything from photography to digital printmaking and rock'n'roll, as well as everything in between.

Born in Birmingham in the year that Heartbreak Hotel hit the charts and when Grace Kelly married Prince Ranier of Monaco, Tony has made a career out of dabbling in whatever he can lay his hands on. Galvanised by the experience of his art education at the notorious Leeds Polytechnic Fine Art department (an experiment in Art Education which at the time was described by Patrick Heron as being the most influential Art School in Europe), much of his work draws on this post-Fluxus experience that was spearheaded by cutting edge artists such as Jeff Nuttall (The People Show), Robin Page (Fluxus), Patrick Hughes (Pop Art) and George Brecht (Fluxus) which he mixes with the punk sensibilities of DIY and the language of Pop Art aesthetics.

In addition to a small section dedicated to archive work, most of this website represents a selection of work produced since 2014 in which he has used digital technology to realise artworks of a traditionally analogue vernacular.
